For the second fitting the whole suit felt a bit weird. The vents stood out(why?) and the whole front wanted to go upwards. We scratched our heads as there was so much excess fabric around the right shoulder and chest. Could easily have taken 4 cm of! But that didn’t feel right. So we started with the side seam and took it apart putting the fabric I had let out back again but found excesses of fabric under the armholes as well when the seam was pinned in a position that looked good on Robert. Put a needle through the excess fabric to keep track of it.
The front was not balanced and still stood upwards so we took the collar off and opened the shoulder tack and pinned the shoulders in a position that felt right, and it was!
All that weird fabric around shoulder and chest just disappeared. Also corrected the arms a bit as they did not drape perfectly. Patted the suit on Robert feeling for any strains or more extra fabric and found excess fabric in the roll line.
From a really weird fit to something that looked really good, like magic.
When I took everything apart to make the adjustments on the pattern I realized what went wrong. When I did my Tailor stitches I forgot that my seam line was 1,5 cm in and not on the tailor stitch. This made the side seam to big causing the armhole to be to big which caused the bubble. The side was to big and needed too be taken back on the muffin area. The whole suit is now lifted two centimeters in back in comparison with front which should make it fall straight.
Feeling really good about the overall fit. Back looked perfect!
(Sorry for the double photo posting. This seems to be the only way to get a small image to be shown on the front page).
